In 1962 I was 8 years old and my downstairs neighbor (a wise and wizened 10 yr old) showed me this cool thing he had gotten-Mars Attacks cards! I was riveted and bought em up at every opportunity. Second, given the wealth of information provided, beware of massive adoption of what may have been effective elsewhere. I never would have thought to teach him to visualize it in his mind like a photo, even though that's what I do when I'm spelling all the time. Now, I can see the fear factor the other reviewer mentioned IF your kid has nightmares especially regarding snakes or things under their bed. It is, but is also SO much more. Vanessa Vega is an amazing and strong woman. The only problem is the wait for the next novel.. Other books on the linguistics of ASL are better.On top of this, the photos are bad. Nice bonus images in the back. Needless to say, gorgeous repros of all 55 original cards, full page, with the back of the card on the facing page, are included.
