During the last years the field of controlled electrical drives has undergone rapid expansion due mainly to the advances of semiconductors in the form of power electronics as well as analogue and digital signal electronics, eventu ally culminating in microelectronics and microprocessors. This is due to the stringent operating conditions and widely varying specifications - a drive may alternately require control of torque, acceleration, speed or position - and the fact that most electric drives have - in contrast to chem ical or thermal processes - well defined structures and consistent dynamic characteristics. The ease of controlling electrical drives is an important aspect for meeting the in creasing demands by the user with respect to flexibility and precision, caused by technological progress iIt also features half-size slopers to work with in the back of the book.I would give it four and a half stars if I could. I'm an Assistant Professor at the Electrical Drives Chair of National Technical University of Ukraine, and my courses are "Control Of Electrical Drives","Automatic Control Systems" etc. The author did himself a great injustice!. I think four is too low as it so excellently presented, but there is one problem. Adequate for an introductory course on electrical drives.. With his genius, what other insights might he have given us? If you wish, you can regard the book as speculations into this unknowable.One of the book's authors, Copeland, has recently edited another book -'The Essential Turing', which has essays by Turing himself, and you may want to look at that text.. It is indeed a book for beginners, and it doesn't cover all types of garments. Comes with slopers you can photocopy to use for practice. Turing had a strikingly original and whimsical imagination - reflecting this, and unlike many books on technical topics, this one includes some of the kind of speculation that is bound to fire the imagination of readers.
